Wedding Photography, Carnell Estates – Havva & Nicholas
There’s no two ways about it…….the wedding of Havva & Nick was pretty amazing, for many reasons. Not the least of which was the fact that Issy, Havva’s dog, was wearing a kilt. And a hat. 🙂
Havva & Nick are film makers who have recently relocated from LA to Scotland & they certainly nailed a trio of excellent locations for their wedding day. Morning preparations took place in Troon Marine Hotel, the ceremony itself was in the rustic Symington Parish Church, and for the reception we took a short trip to the stunning Carnell Estates.
Now, being film buffs, the wedding incorporated one or two nods to rich cinematic history, such as the impromptu request for an homage to a famous shot of Marilyn Monroe – the fact that I couldn’t recall the actual picture was no problem – the wonders of the tinterweb helping me out once again. Ahhhh, technology 🙂 If you’re a Monroe fan maybe you can pick out the shot I’m talking about below……
The couples’ family & friends were a multinational mixture of American, German & Turkish (the speeches were something else!) , and they had gone to great lengths to make everyone feel included & welcome – even to the extent of producing a Turkish belly dancer as part of the evening celebrations! That’s a wedding first for me!
The pinnacle of the day for me though had to be the couple’s first dance, which was an astonishingly accurate version of THIS dance scene from the Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers oldie, Top Hat. Just have a look at the Youtube clip of it (skip to about 2:10 from the start). Anyone who puts that much effort into the learning & performing of a routine like that for the entertainment of their guests gets BIG respect from me!
